Chimayo Madonna

Chimayo, New Mexico is 28 miles from Santa Fe on the High Road to Taos.  Aside from its textiles and spices, it is best known for the Sanctuario de Chimayo.  Considered to be the Lourdes of the United States, people pilgrimage from all over the world to experience its curative properties.  The unique property of the sanctuary is the dirt room.  Here pilgrims gather dirt that is reputed to heal a variety of ailments.  The entire area of Chimayo seems to be infused with a special light and vibration (plus, the food is really good at the local Ristorante.)

We found this Chimayo Madonna guarding a spice store on the Sanctuary property.  She is available as a print, t- shirt, candle or greeting card.

The music this month is Virgen Morena by El Tri featuring Carlos Santana.
Here’s a link to the video on YouTube.

We trust that your Valentines days were fabulous.
